Camp Requirements
Acceptable Tentage for 1750-1812 includes wedge, diamond, wall, marquee, lean-to, eastern woodland conical and eastern woodland domed structures. No tipis or pyramids.
Acceptable tentage for other time periods will be of that historical period.
Please be period appropriate for any time period you represent.
This is 24/3 immersion. Gear in use must be appropriate for your time period. or blend appropriately. All non-period gear must be stowed out of sight at all times, 24/3, Friday opening through Sunday closing. Obvious and glaring anachronisms will be brought to your attention and required to be concealed. Examples would be granite wear for the 1700-erly 1800’s, oil lanterns in the revolutionary and 1812 period, nylon or poly cordage, , “Navajo” patterned items.
Fires must be attended at all times. Fire bucket must be present, filled and within reach. Upon exit, fires must be completely extinguished, doused, and sod replaced.
DOGS must be kept under control at all times. Must be cleaned up after. No excessive barking. No aggressive behavior. Collars and leashes to blend with period environment.
FLASHLIGHTS and artificial light MUST be kept discreet. No halogen illuminated camps and brightly glowing canvas. Absolutely No Headlamps.
CELLPHONES Ringers OFF. Please be discreet when using cellphones.
Clothing and Accoutrements must be acceptable to your time period. Participants are required to be in period attire from 10:00a.m. Saturday until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday when on the grounds and visible to other participants or visitors. Accoutrements and accessories must meet period authenticity. No wristwatches, zippered garments, or visible crew neck T-shirts. No Minnetonka style mocs, modern footwear or jewelry. No shirts with cut-off sleeves. We expect both males and females to be properly attired to the standards of the day for their portrayal.
Interpretations are numerous for time periods and those that can be documented or justified in the Great Lakes region and the Middle Ground 1750-1815 and forward are encouraged and appreciated. Prohibited are Fantasy, Medieval, Caribbean Pirate. IF YOU INVITE SOMEONE, THEY MUST REGISTER and JURY!
Merchants! Prohibited items include: Any visibility of the following: modern table or chair. Modern tools unless you can document for your time period. Battery, electric or LP flame or lighting devices unless they can be documented. No electric fans. Plastic display cases. Plastic packaging. Jewelry pinned to cardboard or plastic display cased, pow-wow items. Spears. Feathers attached to items, e.g. tomahawk handles, walking sticks. Commercially made walking sticks or stick with a hole through and leather carrying thong. No plastic beads. No medieval, Ren-Faire or Fantasy items. or flutes. Prohibited toys: Anything with plastic or rubber. No sharp edges. Wooden bows to be traditional long bow only. No cross-bows or re-curves. Wooden swords to be cutlass style. No broadswords. No neon anything. No cap or cork guns. Kentucky rifles and pistols by Parris will be allowed (if it fires caps, NO CAPS may be sold).
Miscellany: Any furs, pelts, feathers, bones, or other animal parts possessed, displayed, or offered for sale must have been legally harvested within the regulations of the Ohio DNR and/or other governing state or federal laws. It is your responsibility to know the law.
